Do you think the internet should be regulated?!

Question: It's a dilema. I would like to see a rating system and registry for web sites (that they all are required to have). Then they could make a software to install if you want to regulate it. That way parents could monitor thier kids with 100% confidence and those that want the freedom have it.

The way I see it, I have the right to disallow my kids to look at porn but, who am I to say you can't!

NO! It is one of the last free things we have!
in some ways yes especially those porn sites so young minds don't get corrupted easily.
no i don't think so cuz they would be violating the first amendment
That is a very general question. Can you be more specific?

Are people aware the first amendment only applies to the U.S.?
For explicit contents, yes.
yeah maybe it would help save some children by getting kidnapped by pervs!
in a few ways YES. like inappropriate videos that shouldn't haunt little girls' and boys' minds.
nope
leave well enough alone!
As a teacher I truely believe that the internet should be regulated. Have you seen the disgusting perverts that have been arrested for preying on children on the internet? I understand that we deserve freedom but some things just can't be let go, someone's got to protect the youth of America and for that matter our society, which seems to be rapidly flushing down the toilet!!
No I don't belive it should be
No.

There are many tools and programs that people can use for their own restriction purposes. To apply any kind of censorship to the net itself is totally uncalled for.

Many communist countries (and some that are NOT all so communist) apply heavy regulation and/or censorship to what their citizens can and cannot access. As long as that particular ability is available to any given country, so it should be to any given individual.

The same applies to any other form of media - be it tv, newspapers, magazines, etc.

What it boils down to is this: If you dont like what you see/hear/smell/taste/touch - then go somewhere else for an experience that DOES please you. No need to take anything away from people who DO enjoy what you DON'T.
No. There's enough that is questionable going on already. Search engines are already playing political games with how they filter search results. Not too long back there was something with the Church of Scientology trying to get sites to filter out any site that criticized them or at least put it toward the bottom of the search results. I really don't remember what happened with all of that. (That's just the first example I can think of.) China's forced sites like Google to put so many filters on that there are things we in the US would consider basic that they can't look up.

If parents don't want their kids looking at porn, then they should monitor what their kids are doing and control access to the internet. No, that isn't fool proof, but neither are filters. I mean you put a filter on, and you can't research breast cancer! People need to stop handing over their parenting duties. Be responsible. It's your kid. As for me and what I don't want to look at - I'm a grown-up and have figured out how to work an 'off' button - or in the case of the internet, the 'back' button.
Some ways- yes. I think its terrible what people put online. Hate, porn, and other things that shouldn't even be available. For example, there are so many people arguing with each other now, because of internet. So much people who read something online and use it, or start to hate someone. That didn't make sense. But the answer to your question is YES!
