Answers: the cause or the effects... in whatever?

i guess it totally depends on the situation...

i think that generally you want to find the real cause of what is going on... if there is water falling from your ceiling, you don't want to analyze how long it will take the drywall to rot and collapse, you don't want to determine what is getting wet, and you don't want to determine the rate that the puddle on the floor will spread and how soon it will reach the kitchen floor... but you DO want to find out what is leaking - or the CAUSE of the water. is it the roof? is there a pipe in the ceiling? is you bathtub leaking?
if you get headaches, you get dizzy all the time, your hands are shaky, and you seem like a space cadet... you don't want to determine how long each headache lasts, how many times your hand shakes in a minute, or how long it will take you to pass out if you remain standing when you are dizzy, you want to go to the doctor and find the CAUSE of these effects.

but if you are trying to come up with a cure for diabetes or cancer, you will want to study the effects of your treatment. if you are taking a science class... most experiments require to try a written out procedure - or cause - and record the results - or study the effects.

so in most every day life situations - you want to analyze the cause. the cause of the fight between you and your mom, or you and your husband. you want to find the cause of the water coming from the ceiling. you want to find the cause of the oil pressure light that comes on in your car. you want to find the cause of why you feel sick. so analyze the CAUSE not the effect.

Hmmm, good question. I am more likely to analyze the effect. A lot of causes are not known, so I tend to dwell on the effects of things
