Only about 10% of what we communicate is based on the interpretation of the actual words used. Around 25% of what we communicate is the way se say the words.

The rest is pure non verbal communication (NVC's) - or body language.

In terms of our evolution, we're still pretty new to the whole language thing (probably less than 20,000 years), whereas we have been waving our arms and legs about, forming social group activities and producing hormones for literally millions of years as we evolved into the creatures we are today.

Consequently, a lot of our actions, mannerisms, moods and group behaviours give off cues that betray the true sentiments behind the shite we talk.
