well, usually our toes are covered, so hand manipulation is so much more important. if i could type with my toes i would be on here longer.

I can, my bf calls me monkey feet! =) i know, its discusting. but really, its evolution, we arent climbing trees anymore so we dont need as much control over or toes tthan we do our fingers. Thats my opinion, if you dont beleive in evolution, i guess god just put them there cause he thought they were cute =) and theyd help you walk more stably?!
its because you dont use your toes to do precision activities as much as you do your fingers. i bet if you try long enough you could eventually give someone the finger.

I'm guessing its accorning to the length of the bones themselves. I'm sure with LOTS of practice you could indeed do as much as you'd like with you toes.
