fiction
Fiction!
True its real!!!
The Bible is the true living word of God. All true!
It is neither
depends who you ask
Non fiction with a twist of fiction.
I think it's a little of both. Most non-fiction, though. Hey, I'm a Christian. It's what I believe.
I have to believe that it is non fiction
Well, it depends what religion you are. Thats the most perfect answer I think.
Fiction, Fiction, Fiction....It's a BOOK,written by Man, for Man.
The Bible is non-fiction.
Both - But mostly fiction. Why? I think someone made up a great book with characters from their life at the time. But they made all the ideas up in their imagination.
of course there is certain things that are non-fiction, that helped figure out time lines.

YET, the saying of there being a god is fiction.
The Bible is the Word of God. it's REAL nothing in the Bible is fake. PERIOD!
both
It is a historical narrative.
For any lie to be effective there always must be an element of truth.
BOTH, some things are true history. but then there is the magic parts, hahaha.
The Bible is definitely non-fiction. Much in the Bible has been proven scientifically possible, probable and factual; and it is historically factual. Christ did use metaphors in some of his teachings but the purpose and explanations are made quite clear.
According to some Theolegians, the Old Testament is a mixture of fiction and facts. Recent archeological findings suggests that there are indeed evidences that can be traced related to the different events in the Old Testament. What constitutes its 'fictional' content is that most of the Old Testament's arguments and stories were passed on by the Oral Tradition or Word of Mouth. In that way, many stories or circumstances can be 'unpure' by the time it reaches the modern way of story-telling.

On the other hand, the New Testament was found out to have real sources. The question is: Did the writers in the New Testament used fact or fiction in writing their narratives? Although based from archelogical finds since the start of the new millenium, there are relics and evidences that suggests the beginning of the New Testament.

So, in short, it is both a fiction and non-fiction work.
God did not write the bible. No omniscient, almighty being would put such nonsensical, sex-driven, and barbaric statements and ideas as can be found in the bible. For every bit of "wisdom" that can be found in the bible, something such as this statement found in the book of Deuteronomy 25: 11-12 exists:

11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: 12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her

Meaning: If a man fights with another, and his wife comes to rescue her husband from his opponent by seizing his genitals, you shall cut off her hand, show her no pity.

Not only does this statement utter nonsense, it's barbaric. How anyone could honestly say that this is the word of an all-knowing, all loving, all-powerful being that actually makes a judgment on souls as to whether they go to heaven or hell based on how they lived their life is so far beyond me that I often feel like committing suicide just to see how any of this works out, if true.

Any number of statements, that can only be written by primitive (and more than likely insane) men, like the above passage can be found in the bible. This is further proven by the fact that nobody has ever stopped reading the bible and been left in awe. It is because there are many statements in it that just don't make any sense whatsoever.

In short, yes, the bible is a work of fiction based on some true events, such as the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth, most of which are so warped by the belief in God that the historical accuracy of the actual occurrence is, for the most part or in its entirety, lost.
