Why should the government tell us what to do?!
Question: for example.. they make us wear seat belt to provide our lives with safety.
ok fine, if they care about our safety, why don't they ban tobaccos too? I think the smokers are destroying my life slowly I might have a better chance to live longer not wearing a seat belt.

It's definitional: the GOVERNment GOVERNS citizens.
Because they're looking out for us.
They SHOULD tell us what to do because we don't know any better and the country would be in choas if it weren't for them. Man, I love the government.
Hey don't forget about the drunks that run us off the highways and crack heads that steal our property. List them all and don't pick on a certain few. Can you imagine what it would be like without drugs, liquor, smokes and safety belts. What a free world.
The government can do that in its exercise of police power and that is totally legal. The only question is which areas of people's lives can they police us? Certainly not in all and everything that the government thinks it has a right to interfere.
I think that they should tell us what to do to an extent- Anarchy is bad, our socities would collapse and all that stuff (notice i didn't say 'and all that good stuff')
but they don't want to be completely controlling, they want people to have free will, and if they are totally controlling, more people will break the laws somehow and will rebel and people will be even more pissed with the government than they are now
