well i didn't slip up. ten years ago i lived in a real rough area, they started selling off the houses to people who were renting them off the local council, most in the area wouldn't buy, i did for 6,500 pounds Irish, two years later a developer came in and built posh apartments and a shopping centre in the adjoining fields...so i put my house on the market and it sold for .............186,000.....irish pounds...giving me a huge profit to buy my house in the country....the neighbours were green...this is really true..i had lived there for 20 years xxxxx

Yes is seems cheap however in 1946 that will have been expensive as you got to take into account what they got in wages.
Sickening isnt it. I dont know how many times I have kicked my husband for not buying a second house in our estate 10 years ago for 150,000 euros. They are selling today for 650!!!! We were worried, obviously, about mortgage etc but if we knew then what we know now, that our mortgage would be fully paid by now, then we would have bought three and would be retiring by now!!!!!!!

If you like a rural existance you might want to consider Brittany. Everything there about half of what you'd pay Taunton way and prices are set to boom.

God you made me think back years..my Grandfather got the opportunity to buy his 4 bed council house years ago for 18k..he decided against it and asked me if id buy it..after a lot of thought i realised i couldn't afford it and pay rent on flat i was in, so said no...saw it was up for sale last year 190k !!! ARGGGGGHHH...maybe a crystal ball would come in handy too...
