Answers: This question could be symbolic in may ways. Why pay for something you can get for free?

I never thought of that - you are a person who thinks outside of the square!

Because it's illegal to pick up sea shells

Hell yes, fight the (wo)MAN!

Cos sally has a gun.

because sally got there first and picked them all up :)
you sure have got time on your hands to ponder .

Because sally gets special shells

some people like to spend money while other's will get it for free

if you cut out the middle man the economy collapses and supply and demand is stagnant

well sally's gotta earn a crust somehow!

How about trying to get her clam?

Because hers are made into necklaces

omg i never thought about that

i guess it really doesnt mean anything, its just supposed to be a touge twister

She had taking the time to clean her shells and made sure to take her time to only pick the very best. If your lazy or pressed for time then you can just stop by and grab one and keep it moving.

Because the little girl is poor!

Maybe Sally picked them all up first so others had to buy them from her. At the time that tongue twister was made I don't think it was illegal to pick up seashells.

Some people may be too lazy to pick up shells, so will pay for them. It saves them time & trouble.

Nobody said Sally was making any money at it. Nobody said she even needs the money. Perhaps Sally got out there before you did and got all the good ones. Perhaps this is an economic study of price vs. quality.

Because Sally has her thugs down by the seashore, touch that shell, go on, I dare ya!

because when you put hers up to your ear you can hear her having an orgasm

The same reason a guy will pay for a prostitute. It is much easier and less trouble to just pay for it than to go look for it on your own.

Perhaps Sally's sea is in the temperate zone, so the water is so cold most of the shells are brittle and broken.
This answer could be symbolic in many ways. "There's no such thing as a free lunch" means there are hidden costs. Also, 'you get what you pay for'.

because sally got that all and left nothing ........hey wait i got one ...pokey dokey sally i don't need ur........hurrey

Because there's no fun in saying, I picked up a sea shell... and it's usually harder in life to find the free things than it is to just go out and buy them. Most people look for the easy way out. I know I try to.

She sells sea shells by the sea shore. But the sea shells that she sells aren't sea shells at all.

Maybe cuz they're fake they look better cuz they're made to be perfect so they look really nice and many people by them. But she's gonna be sued soon cuz they aint real ;)

cause sally picked them all up and now you can't find any for free and if you really want one you gotta pay

maybe sally's shells are bigger HAHA
