Caution is good, but, I go by the ...."treat people the way you want to be treated" rule. I strive to be a good and loving person, even if no one knows it but me and God, that way, I never have to feel regrets.

I'm not sure your age. For me, it is truly interesting and fun in the beginning. Catching up is wonderful, however, you may find that you have grown and matured in very different ways. If you share similar interests at this time GREAT! You have an old friend back and you have a history with this person which will aid in strengthing your relationship. Good luck.
I am too cautious. Seems ever since grade school, all my friends even back stabbed me. Even recently my friends just pulled some BS on me. If you can find a truly good friend that didn't hurt you and wanted back as a friend, go for it. It is great to have someone to talk to and lean on.
