How do you do? No, How do YOU do?!

Question: When you are introduced to someone new the polite phrase used to be - how do you do? (which doesn't make much sense!) - what do you say when meeting someone for the first time - or do you just nod your head and say nothing?

I say ..how do you do and shake hands and nod :)

I usually say hi, how are you?

if i'm just passing someone I just give the nod

nice to meet you

i say "hi"

Pretty good. How about you?

u should say "im doing good and u?"

I say "Hi or Hello, Glad to meet you".

I say Hi, how are you? It's nice to meet you. But that's just me.

how are you
or else
pleased to meet you

Hi nice to meet you or Whuzz up?

It's the same thing anyway and i just say hi

Howdy!

I say hello.

hi , how are ya.

Hello nice to meet you.

Very glad to meet you.

"Fine how about you?"

I usually stand up, offer a handshake, and say "Hi, how are ya?"

I also find that sticking the person's name in there "Hi Joe, how are ya?" helps me to remember them later.

On a side note, men that do not stand when they offer a handshake irritate me.

I nod. I do not talk at all when I first meet people. I fell something between acward and indifferent.

say that a few times in a row, tongue twister. that phrase is from so long ago, don't hear it at all nowadays. just the normal greeting, hello, nice to meet you and then shake hands. if the person is a bit away from me, then I nod.

alright

“pleased to meet you” “Good morning” and on occasions “How are you?” or “Good evening.”

I just say hello.

i always say '' Hi , nice to meet you , how do you do ''

hi, my name is Phil. i live in a shoe... *lol*

If I'm introduced, then I just say "Hi, nice to meet you"

i meet like 10 people last night so i said hey
then i gave them a hug...
i works when you at school related activtys cause everyone knows eachother

I always say, hello, pleased to meet you then take the conversation from there.

I'd say "How's it going?" or something. It's not too engaging so it leaves an opportunity for me to either build on it or leave before I get in a conversation I honestly can't be bothered with, ahah.

If someone asks me "How do you do?", I invariably reply "How do I do what?".
