While the headdress makes you look somewhat Hawaiian with the mountain in the background (and I miss Oahu, where I once lived when young). I'd say you look like a "military-brat" (no offense meant, it's just a general term that applies to me too) from the mainland who's living out there now. I say that mainly due to the blonde (the sun really bleached mine when there) hair. I'm really curious as to all the questions you pose on race and religion. I see you keep your questions and answers private, but I see your avatar on many questions posed by you that ask how people feel about Brazilians or Muslims or Jews or Maori, etc... I wonder if you're trying to nobly expose those who have hateful feelings towards people unlike themselves or if you're trying to feel people out as to different ethnicities that may make up your background, or if you're younger and have a choice of who to hang out with...?????

To me, "race" and religion do NOT matter much as long as the person is relatively open-minded and does not try to force their religion, etc. on others. The best advertisement for your religion is by living a good life by the golden rule (which in Christianity could be called the 11th commandment viz Jesus appearing to the Apostles including "Doubting Thomas" and leaving them with the command that they treat others as they would treat Him - sorry I can't quote you the exact chapter and verse that others can, I think it's more the concept that counts). I have had friends of all "races" and religions who I have had some very interesting discussions with on many topics, not just religion. Sure, you will always find people in any group that seems to define the stereotype of that group, but that is usually the exception, not the rule.

As far as "race" goes, I think it's more of an illusion, since we either all evolved out of Africa or are related through Adam & Eve, etc. (or are a seeding experiment by aliens?) but genetically they've found that a white person may have more genetic material in common with a black person on the other side of town than with their white neighbor. The PBS program "Journey of Man" was a affirmation of what I've said and felt for a long time. We pretty much all evolved different physical characteristics based on where our ancestors stopped and decided to stay on the way out of the mother continent. This was due to the different factors needed to survive in the conditions they found themselves in. There may have already been wide variations of looks and physical characteristics and those who tended to not feel comfortable in some climates may have decided to look elsewhere for a new habitat that more closely matched their own "features". Being omnivores with reasoning capabilities and able to hunt with the ability to travel in packs (somewhat like dogs, our closest companion for years!) we as humans were quite mobile.

I hope that, in a way, I've answered many of the questions you posed all at once, and leave you with the comment that, while your avatar looks quite appealing, does your ethnicity really matter? While we should all be cognizant of our family history and heritage, we must remember that all peoples have a history and heritage and they should all be embraced and the good things kept and any repugnant things dropped that we may be a better people overall. Thanks for the question which spurred my answer.
