What makes pedophiles tick (serious answers its for a college thesis paper)?!
Question: as a social work major one of my assignments is to try to find out what the publics views on things are but it has to be anonymous so what better place than yahoo answers. please be as honest as possible but no rude or mean comments. pick an answer (or combination of answers and elaborate as much as possible)
Q-what makes pedophiles act/think the way they do (what makes them attracted to children)
1. their upbringing (bad childhood, abusive parents, lack of attention, etc)
2. they are genetically programmed that way
3. they were abused themselves
4. other (feel free to give ur own ideas)
again please be respectful with ur answers because theres a possibilty that someone in here knows a "pedophile" or was abused by one and its not fair to upset them
also what is ur definition of "pedohile"

What makes them "tick" is power and control over the young. This is a documented fact. If you need to do a thesis, google some serious AMA sites and you can get more info. than you could probably digest.
Most of them suffer from severe Frontal Lobe damage....as do most serial killers. It takes away their ability to feel remorse or empathy.
very difficult question to answer and it probably does not have a defintive answer that cannot be argued. it could just be poor moral standards. could have something to do with their upbrining. they may be wired the wrong way (genetics).
it is a chemical inbalance in their brain, or an urge to where they can't control themselves, alot of times also they say it is caused by the parent sexually assaulting them,abusing them in some way.
