Do you find it hard to throw things away.?!

Question: Oh my goodness yes.

I'm a lifelong sufferer of pack rat disease.
Unfortunately my husband is too. Usually you get one horder and one normal spouse and they keep eachother in check. But we save everything. I dread what this place will look like when we're 80.

yes i keep everything

nope. i love it. feels like purging and feels good to do it. i used to be a hoarder though so i've had to learn to throw things away.

if i'm feeling unhappy about something i genreally have a good clean out and it really helps.

yeah im a horder i have my sons clothes from wen he ws newborn n everything he is now 2 and troys from wen i was small im 20 lol i just cant help it

yes sometimes

Yeah, but I really gotta get to all those empty vodka bottles in the corner.

I can't throw sentimental things away but anything else is fine.

no not at all

Yes definitely.
Even useless stuff, I usually just think that they'll come to use some day... sometimes they do.

YES! I keep things forever. Even when I go through old stuff, I find things I don't use anymore but I still can't throw it away sometimes because of the memories. :)

Yeah :)

well i dont throw things away if they mean something to me ..
beacaue that would be totally sad.
i throw away things i truely dont need like tiny pencils :)

NO! It makes my life feel less cluttered. I always bring all my old junk to the Salvation Army or give it to the local school....so I'm not really throwing it away. If I have to think twice about it I keep it.

Unfortunately yes - my house is way too full!

absolutely, i soon regret it

I think for me its things like old drawing I have. I feel kind of bad when I have to. But it takes up too much space.

If they was things that were important to me

Hootie really has a hard time throwing things away. I threw some of her handbooks away two weeks ago that were from the late 1980's.

Edit...in regards to Hootie...so sorry...they are gone forever

Yes.

I like to design lots of different things and use all sorts of things you find around the house, that makes it really hard to throw things away because there is always that thought at the back of my mind 'I might want to use that for something later on'.
9 times out of 10 though I am glad I never threw it away!!

yes just a bit

Depends on what the "things" are. Old clothes I can get rid of in a heartbeat...but I'll keep a first-date movie ticket stub forever. I'm weird (and sentimental) like that.

Yes.

The good side: until recently, I had things in my inherited house dating back 50-90 years. It was a living museum.

The bad side: I had to get rid of 90% of it. Area taken over by airport.

Sighs...

sometimes I do...I'll think "I could probably use this one day"

What I do so I dont look like a pack-rat is if i dont use that thing in a month I will not need it in the future anytime soon and its not a nessiety, but if its something for memory i think you can keep it as long as its organized.

Yes, I do. But I have been working on that habit and it is now getting easier for me to throw things away or give them to charity. I gave away a lot last year via the FreeCycle group. This year the focus has been large items to Charity. And of course, the endless paperwork and junk mail.

It's been extra difficult as I am the only remaining family member and have two households of "stuff" to sort thru. My cousins are not really available to help, in fact one of my cousins wants me to come and help with her "multiple family" inheritance.

nope not for me

Oh, I'm a terrible pack-rat! I keep everything until I'm forced to either move to a bigger place or clean out what I have. I go through everything and get rid of anything I haven't used in the past year or two. And don't you know, it's not two weeks until I'm needing something I got rid of!!

nope

somethings yes i do... others it doesn't bother me

Up to a point, then the clutter bugs me and I enjoy getting rid of all the crap. It's freeing and feels good to give unused stuff to charity for someone else to enjoy.
