Death penalty, for or against?!

Question: if you were on a jury could you decide if someone lived or died?

Answers: if you were on a jury could you decide if someone lived or died?

No, I could not decide.
At one time in my life I would say fry the S.O.B., but not today. I believe and support pro-life. In doing so it is not just that I am against abortion, but that all people have the right to life from conception to a natural death. Last year 2 very dear friends of mine who went back out using were murdered execution style in a drug deal gone wrong. I do not know if I would be strong enough to hold onto this conviction if it were my husband or sons. I cannot lie....I do know that the woman who killed my cousin has to look at herself every day for the rest of her life and know that her drinking and driving took the life of a talented, handsome, loving young man...and she is doing this from a wheelchair....would killing her bring my boy back or just punish her children even further.
This is a tough one Little Bro.....
Peace.

for

for especially if its a pedophile

if they do the crime they must face the consequences so ya

For- murderers and dirty assed pedophiles

Chico is completely for it.

If someone did a horrible sick crime yea they should die and I would gladly help get them there. Or, simply if you take a life yours should be taken too.

I am in favor of death penalty for the most heinous criminals.

For and Yes

for
yes

For it, only for murderers though.

This question is much too important for just a yes or no or a slogan. You don't have to condone brutal crimes or want the criminals who commit them to avoid a harsh punishment to ask whether the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and whether it risks killing innocent people.

People make mistakes. 124 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.

We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.

The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.

The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

For....depending on the crime....

If there are no if, ands or buts about the guiltiness of the person then YES - I could do it. And for the guy who murdered my Aunt - I could pull the switch if needed.

First it would depend on the crime. Secondly, they would have to be proven beyond any possible doubt of innocence.

I would hate to be one of the jury who put to death an innocent person.

yep sure could, and seriously its all due to the fact i was beat so bad as a child i feel bad for someone if i get jury duty...at least i can admit it though

For real terrible crimes like pedophiles, yes.
