Violation???!
Question: This is getting to be completely absurd.
I received a violation for answering the question about how I have prepared for the Australian wildfire season by writing that, "I have prepared for the Australian wildfire season by choosing not to live there," and received a violation for this!
Is there any way at all that this should be considered a violation?
If yahoo is going to flag and remove answers simply because they don't like them, then how is this forum valid for information sharing at all?
Have you had similar experiences? Have you noticed more extreme censorship and volume of violations?

i have noticed an extreme volume of people complaining about violations.
I got a violation for using the word "pussyfoot" meaning to tip-toe. Go figure.
I recieved a violation for representing Mr. Stern. I thought it was completely asinine.
I also got one for asking if people liked the rain.

I have been violated many times and it is just based on their set rules. Read their outline rules and it will help with your'e being violated again.

That is just wrong. I agree with you, we should be able to say what we think. I recently got a violation notice because I answered "I dont know" for a question to someone. I wrote yahoo answers and told them to tell me why this was a violation and they said they were going to look into it.
You put the question ,,and then answered it yourself,,,,plus ,,an Australian might have taken offence,,,

yes i got a really dumb violation the other day. The question was "does anyone know of any good home-based businesses?" and I replied with the name of the business and the web address. And the next day I had a violation notice. so I appealed the violation and they gave me my points back. But somebody could've reported it. I may have been someone who doesn't like the responses that you leave to answers and to get back at you for not agreeing with what you said, they report your answers. And the bad thing about it is that you never know who is going to report one of your answers.
violation notices are getting way out of hand. People are reporting someone simply because they don't agree with their statement. That is not what it should be for. It should be to report abusive, threatening or racist material. It really, really annoys me to get a violation for a totally innocent comment. Obviously Yahoo issue the violations without checking if it is deserved or not. very very frustrating and aggravating
Yes, it's happened to me. Unfortunately there are people who report things for no reason. Probably as soon as the answer is flagged by whatever idiot chose to do this, then Yahoo removes it and sends you a violation. I don't even think they look at the answers, they just send the violation. Just return the violation email saying that you think it's a mistake. I think they give you an option of how to do this in a link in that email. The reply probably won't do any good, but at least you tried and voiced your opinion.

I have been reported for telling a guy, that i did not agree with him. That's a violation. I also told a guy that he must live in a trailer park, and got reported.Yahoo needs to start holding the people who make false violation accusations, accountable for it.
Someone posted a question saying "Do you like my shoes" and I said "They're all right for an indie kid" and it was deleted. Even though someone else made fun of her for being emo, and someone else told her that her hairstyle was stupid.
And yet I said the derogatory version of the word prostitute once and it wasn't censored or reported.
Go figure.
Yes I have had one regarding Afghanistan, I think the hell with the country, I stepped over the line.
Another was a meaning of an expression, came under "ranting".
What do they mean by when someone says to you, "come to papa", "Bring your feet", "put a dress on", Still got answers back, however.
The question had been removed, another regarding a mental health issue in a foreign country.
I also had a couple of rude answers back for one of my questions, about a girl playing a trumpet
or bagpipes, I reported abuse, that sign you can press yourself, HEH HE HEH.
That flag, or I deleted the trumpet question myself, what a response, arguing back and forth over a message board.

I haven't received a violation. Are you sure it was yahoo and not a member? It seems that people can "report it" if they think something is inappropriate or offensive. Or maybe Yahoo doesn't want any comments being said about other countries.
Well it is not really yahoo's fault.
Some other user reports your answer and yahoo does not always come a look at it.
They take the OTHER user's word for it and send you a violation.. GRRR
To answer your question NO I do not think this answer is a Violation.
Yahoo does this in all its programs to many users and YES even mine.
As for personal experience... they deleted two different accounts of mine because some other user reported something on my blog or a pic that they didn't like.
ONE would hope we are dealing with ADULTS ...but for the most part....it is NOT TRUE ... as you can plainly see.
