My daughter just passed her road test...what have I done?!
Question: She's not quite 18 yet, and the papers I needed to sign make me responsible for any trouble she may get into. She is making the party plans right NOW!!! She knows the party's not going on in my house...but my son lives right next door...and everyone coming has a vehicle!!!

TAKE THE KEYS OFF HER and tell here she has a curfew on if necessary slap the son around and tell him to take care of his Sis and to ensure she doesn't get into a car with some drunken idiot.

Well you are the mom just because she passed does not mean you have to sign the papers if you dont think that she is ready....hey its ok they all have to grow up someday...
i hate people who are so woried like my mom. im getting my license when im 16 which is going to be over the summer. lol you got to trust your daughter. each time i drive the car my mom acts like she is getting a heart attack. it makes us more nervous.

MOM; you need to put your foot on the brakes!! Since she is so grown up, responsible and can drive now, she will have to:
#1 get her own insurance!! you know why, explain it to her!!
#2 she will earn her own money to buy her own car!!
#3 she will have the right to use your car to go from home to school,to the grocery store, emergencys and that is it.Period.
Should she use her brother's car or anybody elses , she will be responsible for any and all tickets, minor accidents , lack of judgements...
#4 she needs to understand the limitations you have put on her, no debate, you love her, want her to be safe, but you will not put up with any Iresponsibility and will take her license away and hand it over to the authoritys, should the situation arise where you think that it is called for.
#5 Anytime that she is behind the wheel , or out period, she WILL call home every hour on the hour with info . as to where she is , what she is doing , and when she will be home. Then show her all the drinking and driving movies , newsclips... that you can find and actually show her what can happen to ruin her life or others if she drinks and drives.
HAVE A HEART TO HEART TALK WITH HER, EXPLAIN ALL OF THE THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO HER, AND RESPONSIBILITY MEANS ALOT OF THINGS!! Good luck!!!
