Answers: Just had a huge debate about this at work and we have all agreed that they should.....gets pretty bad when the guy selling the big issue cannae even speak the language!!!!!

yes the should and also they should only be allowed in if
they can contribute to society in a positive way

Yes they should.

Yes definitely they should otherwise how do we know illegal immigrants aren't working ?? If they needed a permit it would stop illegals working and may deter more from coming here xx

Outwith's a good word.

No, loads come on holiday. It would affect tourism.

Yours is a good idea but wouldn't work in reality.

PS I like your new avatars.

Edit - But that's the point I was making. If you give someone a tourist stamp in their passport, do you really think it makes that much difference to someone who wants to abuse the system anyway. They don't care, and how does the immigration officer at point of entry know if someone will overstay. Illegal workers don't care about details in their passports which is why they are illegal in the first place. For your idea to work you would have to say no all foreign people.

We should do what the Australian's do and not even let them onto our soil.

A big problem with the "new europe" everyone has the right to move freely in the european union

If they are from outside the EU, or Commonwealth, then they should

Unfortunately there are agreements in place that allow those within those organisations freedom to work wherever they want within the member states

Absolutely....I can't see why they should be given handouts either.
The Aussies are WAY ahead of us on this. Can we not 'head hunt' their prime minister?

absafuckinlutly

you dont see us, getting greeting with open arms to go live in canada, america or australia. no there you have to work and have some money behind you. we should have the same rules as them. coming to this country and with your entire family spanning 20 people or so and nobody working, all on benefits, how can that be good for the country, weve enough ado to cope with our home grown spongers, let alone foreigners! no offence to people who are willing and able to work, ive no problem with them, as long as theyre paying tax like the rest of us

i fear its already too late, this situation is already out of hand

To go into this question in as few words as poss wont tell it all. This country needs cheaper labour to help keep a strong economy to help us with all aspects of finance if we don't have cheaper labour all our exports would be to expensive for others to buy. a lot of the end results would be high unemployment, poorer services, repossession of houses and a weak pound abroad.

Yes I agree, and they should also be able to offer some viable skills and be financially secure hun. I know a lot of people see it as cheap labour source, One of my friends has some workers she pays £80 a week for 40+ hours work, she has given them somewhere to live and feeds them at her pub...!

No, the rest of the EU doesn't ask for this. Why should we?

I didn't need a visa to work in The Netherlands or in Dublin so it is only fair others shouldn't need one either. The UK needs transient workers as they are helping our economy mainly due to the fact transient workers rarely claim back taxes they are legally entitled to. I work in an advice centre and deal with a lot of workers from a multitude of nationalities, a lot of whom have many problems of their own within the employment sector. If people would stop reading scaremongering right wing newespapers like the daily mail then this mentality we seem to have picked up from the Nazis that allows us to blame the vulnerable people who cannot defend themselves maight go away. Sorry if you don't agree, but I feel quite strongly about this.

i think more than a working visa

I totally agree

I'm with you on this it is pure common sense, all the money spent on keeping here pending appeal just wouldn't happen .
although i don't go abroad to holiday or to work I'm sure its more difficult abroad, I'm sure thr uk is known as a soft touch.

yes they should be having.
