Numb. That is the word to describe exactly how she feels. Basically her heart has been stomped on, ripped out, broken so much she has created a barrier to keep it safe from harm. She believes if she doesn't care, she will not feel and there fore cannot be hurt again. She does not trust herself to protect her heart so she shuts it down and goes numb.
