Does anyone else question the whole "Trick or Treat" thing -why should!

Question: Seriously I'm not trying to be ungenerous but why should I fear my property being distroyed if I don't give out candy ?

Is their no consideration for issues people may be be dealing with that may prevent candy giving.

Sorry I'm just venting and having a bad day.

i don't think you're venting i think you're just asking a question and i've never heard of anyone being threatened because they're not giving out candy u just simply go to the next house

If you're having issues and aren't into the holiday spirit, you make sure your porch light is turned off and the front door closed.

I just starred you because you made me laugh=) Good point...=)

Perhaps Trick-or-Treat-ers are actually demanding that they be tricked or given a treat. I trick them into thinking I'm about to give them a treat, but when I go back into my house to "get the candy," I'll actually go sit on the couch and watch TV.

Who's been tricked now?

First, I want to encourage you to start you day over. The candy, what the heck, it put a smile on a kids face.

The "trick" is just an old part of Halloween that is now just part of the saying. I have never witnessed people retaliating for not getting candy. Just leave your light off and people won't come asking.

C'mon! Lighten up. Go blow a couple of bucks on candy and let the kiddies have a little fun. It's a once a year thing. Either that, or get ready to clean up your house after the lil' darlings trash your joint.

i think that you shold buy some candy for people who come to your house asking for it. they ill not destroy your property if you don't.

Its just something people say.. I dont think you need to genuinely fear retribution for not doling out candy. At my house, we always run out of candy at some point, and end up dissapointing a few kids, but we have yet to have our house tp'ed or egged.

We love Halloween and giving out candy, as well as taking the kids out through our neighbourhood, but I can see why some people might not like it, and have no problem with those who don't do it for whatever reason.

I guess it partly depends on where you live, but you shouldn't feel any obligation to give out candy. Just turn out the front lights, and enjoy your evening. Better yet, go out for the evening so you don't have to listen to the door bell.

If anyone does damage your yard or home, they can be charged by the police, but I imagine finding the culprit is near impossible. I hope you have a quiet evening.
