Guys and Time Management?!

Question: I work in an office where a majority of the employees are male, and it seems that everything they turn in is either right before a deadline or a few days late.

Based on your experiences/opinions - are guys good at time management or do they mostly procrastinate?

I would say women are better at time management and spacial organization, while men work better under pressure and keep their work in piles that appear random to outsiders.

they aren't good at time management.

I procrastinate really bad. I should be doing work now that needs to be done by tomorrow.

I'll get back to you. What's your deadline for an answer?

Men are procrastinators. Bottom line!

I'm perfect with time management, so I must be an outlier in this situation.

the ones I work woth are procrastinators!! then I end up doing there work in a hurry!!

im going to say procrastination at least for me

Where I work it's usually the ladies that are late.

I would say that men are worse at time management than women - I have 40 staff under me, and the guys turn up for work late more often, and are usually last to turn in work that I have delegated.

Based on my experience, gender has absolutely nothing to do with time management. I know guys who are always on top of their workloads, and I also know guys that are constantly behind. Ditto that for women.

i work well under pressure, so i tend to procrastinate. however, my female boss is also terrible at procrastinating, so it is not just a male thing but it does tend to lean that way.

i think it just depends on there attitudes about it and how much is riding on it. Because even i, as a woman, procrastinate and turn in things late sometimes if i know its not That big of a deal or if noones riding you about it

Many guys... myself included... procrastinate.... well honestly we may not even mean to procrastinate but what is important to us in our lives may not always be the same as yours or other ladies... we get distracted and we just put stuff off as long as we can. so to answer your question yes we procrastinate but there are other males out there that dont do that at all and get stuff done as soon as possible...

I am bad at submitting reports on a timely basis. I got other important things to think about than push some paper around. Paperwork can wait. Then again, I know quite a few women who are pretty bad at time management.

As a guy, I do it because
1. it seems like a challenge, (doing stuff at the 11th hour)
2. I forget about it or pretend to, or
3. Procrastinate.

In other aspects of life (i.e. going to the store) i don't have a good track of time; i can spend 30 minutes looking for a movie, but it only feels like its been five or so. My roommates on the other-hand do have a good sense of time, though they hold off their homework too.

But I don't think that its a "guy thing" everyone procrastinates.

My dad was in the military so he kinda made sure we were on time for everything or a little early. It stuck through me when I was college and for appointments. It sucked when I was waiting for other people, so I try not to do it to them.
