No! Its not offensive. There is nothing to be ashamed of being a homosexual. I think that it is normal for someone to be gay. I am not gay though but there is nothing wrong in what you are believing. My mom's friend is gay and they are good friends.
Words, in themselves, are not offensive - even swear words. It is the attitude or offensive intent of the speaker that is more likely to offend me.
Therefore, I choose my words very carefully and try not to offend others (well, most of the time...)

I think what you are trying to say is that you call people 'gay' when they are not. A lot of 12 year old kids are going around calling each other gay in a jokey fashion or if they don't particularly like someone. i have told the kids that i know to stop saying it because it may be offensive to gay people.
Im sure if a gay person wished to discuss their preference they would say that they were gay -- I may be wrong as I am always clued up on what is politically correct or not . I was going to say that I could be a bit behind but that is not very appropriate for this subject!
