Well, I like my email to be for the use of friends and work...not people who I have never met...some people on here are very strange and can hassle you via email. As for private q and as I think some hide them because they are all mean or perverted and others because that way people cannot look back on your q's and judge you unfairly.
'coz trollies always get me suspended =[ and creeps keep emailing me creepy sh!t =P

Its their will and wish to maintain their privacy. I dont mind either. I dont report or harm anyone and just ask and mind my own.
So that it makes it hard for them to be stalked and harassed by other users, would be my guess.

Cause there are some strange people out there and some of us don't want random oddballs contacting them.
Personally I think it's the height of rudeness when someone adds you to their yahoo or msn messenger without asking you first!
I never have my messenger ids visable on any site!
cause it's non of others' business to know what i answered or where i posted,... there are some ppl who don't understand that you dont want to be friends with them... no matter how much you tell them: i do not want to be friends with you.. it's better to disable emails and make questions and answers private.. and no fans :)
I don't allow e-mails because my e-mail is my full name and I don't want people stalking me or anything.
THEY HAVE THERE Q AND A PRIVATE CUZ THEY CHEAT AND THEY DONT WANT TO GET CAUGHT. HOW DO THEY CHEAT U ASK THEY HAVE MULTIPLE IDS AND VOTE ALOT.
SOME ARE PRIVATE TO AVOID TROLLS THOUGH.
