For the same reason some girls favor boys when it comes to choosing a best answer. But they are fooled if you put the question to a vote instead, because then they can't see the name or the avatar. Also, I wouldn't put it past anyone to create a name and avatar which masks or even purposely reverses their gender. I always thought of the cookie monster as male, but Thrice-Baked, who uses a picture of the cookie monster as her avatar, is female.

I suppose some guys do, but I've received many Bests from male askers. I'm not sure I favor males because I'm gay. I do know the names of all the cute guys who are barristas at my favorite cafe and few, if any, of the females. That was called to my attention by a friend just recently. I was quite embarrassed. I'm not usually a sexist.
