Pampas Grass (Cortaderia): Do you grow it in your garden?!


Question: About 9 years ago my wife went out to see a friend and came home with a baby Pampas grass,,we planted it and just a couple of years later it had swamped a corner of the garden,,,,damn thing

It looks very stately and imposing in the right setting. But it's a huge plant (can be 6ft x 6ft) and needs careful positioning.

If you don't have a massive garden, I would forget it.

I love it. We have none but my daughter has some. Years back i had some in the house in a large vase. It looked quite posh. Lots of folk did that.... I think it was Pampas grass knowing me i will be mixing it up with something else.

I had one but it appeared to be planning world domination, or at least garden domination, so it had to go.

Yes and it is massive despite cutting it back a few months ago it takes up most of my side garden.

yes but be careful if you have kids the edges are serrated and can cut skin.
