Well a question that really picks your brain and makes you have to take a minute to really answer is a great question.
A question that sparks interest or excitement to answer or perhaps something that would cause a small debate. =) Everyone loves a scandal!
If you can say it in french and the complete randomness such as Tu es pomme de terre, nes pas? (you are an apple of earth (potato) right?)

i think that a question has a base and then words to back it up--if you havd a solid base and great words to make it serious or fun or funny or interesting or akward, etc. you have got yourself a superb question!
The ones that are unique and no one has asked them. Those that make you think, but aren't har to answer. They are entretaining.
being a proper question that makes sense is a good start...
then being interesting is another great quality.
