I get cold sores 2 times a year. In february and in August. I NEVER USE ABREVA. It makes it last alot longer. It keeps in very moist. I think the key to making them go away is to keep it as dry as possible. I will usually put a little salt on it a couple of times a day. And I also take the vitamin lysine. Lysine is proven to help prevent and to make cold sores go away faster. If i take it every day I don't get them but sometimes I forget.

try something that builds your immunity like garlic, vitamin C, olive leaf extract, etc..

Carmex is about the best thing i have found to use on cold sores it is not expensive and works well.You can buy it at most convienent stores.

There are a number of cold sore medications available. A popular one is Abreva. Another inexpensive but effective one is Carmex. I feel for you, cold sores are definitely not any fun at all.
