I recycle everything I possibly can. I've never used more resources than I've saved, though. I don't know why you are running into that problem...
I live in small town Arkansas, we have no recycling center. I try to do what I can, but should be doing more.
oh, no, nothing like that hard to clean, maybe a quick rinse of soda bottle.
Most of it ends up in the trash anyway -- they can't keep up.

I got the idea from my mother years ago, to clean every glass jar and aluminum or tin can before placing it in the trash so as not to attract rats on our street till the garbage gets to the dump. We also used to clean the cans because the labels used to be sent to the schools for money back from the company that made the cans, or we could win prizes once a year if we saved the clean labels and submitted them. Back back then the garbage pick-up was only once a week. Where I am now it's twice a week and there are raccoons, rats, aligators and other animals that can get into the trash but I don't wash out the containers anymore, I just tighten the lid on the garbage cans.
Some people are clean frieks, like the ones who clean their house before the cleaning lady somes to their house.
Some people like to clean up what they put in the garbage can because the garbage can is next to their house and if you leave food in there it will also attract ants.
yup. i recycle everything i can. i take my recyclables out to the recycling dumpster daily, and only really have to take the garbage out about once a week.
