i wake up my beagle when he is dreaming, twitching, yelping..... then I pet him and tell him to go back to sleep.
When one of our dogs is snoring and it's keeping me up, I just gently start to rub them and maybe jiggle them a bit and they usually stop. It doesn't hurt them if you wake them up.
