There is nothing strange or wrong about that. When I don't know exactly the words that's what I do, or follow the others
that they know it. After all it's not how good or strong you sing but how the hymms are making sense to you. Hymms are also a kind of prayer and so they have to come out from the heart otherwise you will be just moving your lips and singing in vain. It's better to just mouthing but doing the best so that the song be a prayer. After all God knows our heart and what we mean or not.

this is why:
when i was younger, this guy that i used to have a BIGGGG crush on used to sit in front of me! so i would just mouth the words so he wouldnt hear my terrible vocals hahahah
and when i end up sitting next to people that intimidate me, like some people that i knew from school, and they were in choir!? gahhh... i didnt want them to know what i sounded like
but now, the only reason i mouth the words is because i dont know them lol because they are in a different language
