I have often heard..................?!

Question: People saying that children make a Christmas. Those of you that don't have children or have children grown up do you enjoy it as much as you did when you were younger or do you think the "novelty" (if that's the right word to use lol) has worn off.

I still enjoy it, because for me christmas is not about being materialistic. It is about giving, and celebrating the birth of Jesus

i enjoyed when i was young but just looking to have 10 days off work these days

My children are now adults. The excitement has long gone, which is such a shame.

i enjoy it more now than when i was a child! putting up xmas decorations, buying xmas presents for friends and family, going to xmas parties, time off work, ooooooo i got myself excited, i cant wait!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed it more when my Children were small, the look on their faces when they opened their presents was wonderful. They are grown up now but are still at home, we concentrate more on the food side, rather than presents, and usually have a really good meal, with things we don't eat the rest of the year.

I don't think I enjoy Christmas in the same way I did when I was a kid, but it still means a lot to me. Getting together with the family is a big deal, because my brother and my sister both have lived out-of-state for awhile, and my parents just moved over the summer. Last year we divided Christmas between my family and my boyfriend's. I really enjoyed watching my boyfriend's niece and nephew open their gifts, but we also had a nice time opening our own gifts and spending time alone at our house the evening before. Having a meal together and enjoying our families was what made it all special on Christmas Day. And since I'm a sucker for "novelty", the excitement of opening ANY gift is never lost on me -- whether it's me opening a gift or just watching others' faces when they open theirs. Thanks for posing this question -- it made me remember what's important this time of year!

i have no children and i think the novelty does wear off as you get older but i suppose i would make more of an effort if i had children and their excitement would no doubt rub off on me

xmas bores me sadly.

no i dont think it has its just as fun you dont need kids to have fun

I agree with the first answer MS but sadly the real meaning is disappearing fast. I have a four year old and like every other child her age she is more interested in Santy then the birth of Jesus.

all mine are grown up but i still get a buzz from the gran kids but it is still a good time together
