No my mom knew not to send me to my room. I mean everything was up there: my computer, my phone. my stereo, my tv. Instead I had to just sit on the sofa.

Yes. Several times. I enjoyed the time away from the person who sent me there. (Finally!!! Peace and quiet!)
Yes!! That was the best punishment ever 10min in the room and if i talked back make it 20min.

yes. i don't get grounded.... i just get sent to my room and like an hr later im free.. ill watch t.v read a book/mag..., depending on the day... do hw.... go on line i mean there is a ton to do in my room lol

I wasn't really punished...I guess I was a good kid.
Many times as a child. I would say I fumed for awhile, but eventually settled down and read a book or played BY myself, not WITH myself.
i turned my cd player on really high just to bug my parents.... b/c they have no right to confine 2 ur room 4 2 HOURS!

when i was a kid, and i would get punished they would send me 2 my room, but 2 me it was not a punishment i loved being in my room alone sometimes and i would just read or play
Yes, and I had so many toys and books in my room it didn't really matter! And once my mom said I was spending too much time in my room so come downstairs but there was nothing to do downstairs so I started to annoy her and my little brother so she sent me back up to my room for a time out, which is where I wanted to be in the first place!
Yes my mom would send me to my room until I started behaving better or occasionally my dad would come in and spank me.
Now I send my son to his room when he is screaming/not behaving or just really being disrespectful and disruptive. I usually only make him stay in there for about 15 minutes or until he stops screaming and carrying on. Sometimes I go to tell him he can come out and he's asleep.
I have been punished for a day. Without TV, phone, or computer. I had to do something to pass the time.
No, my mother was into corporal punishment (a quick, hard smack with whatever was handy) and denial of privileges. No "you're grounded", just whatever you wanted to do, the answer was no. And then you got, "You've had your (whatever it was), missy." GOD I hated that.

As a child, I was sent to my room a few times to think about what I'd done wrong. I usually just listened to music or stared out my window. As for your comment about playing with one's self........grow up.
