Thick alcohol?!

Question: when you put alcohol in the freezer, why does the liquid seem thicker?

Answers: when you put alcohol in the freezer, why does the liquid seem thicker?

Because alchohol has a lower freezing point than water, however the foreign bodies in most alchohol (coloring, flavoring, etc) had a tendancy to start to freeze. The process of freezing involves all off the atoms and electrons in a given substance slowing down to a point of next to no activity. While putting the alchohol in your freezer wont stop its molecular activity it does cause the atoms to become "lazier", hence the apparent "thickening" of your favorite delicous beverage. Try freezing a screwdriver or a rum and coke. The "mixer will freeze, and youll be left with a bunch of unfrozen alchohol on top of or under all that frozen stuff.

Because it has been frozen, so the particles stick together and expand, so the alcohol altogether is thicker.

cus its not 100% pure so some of it get thicker thats what i've been told anyways

The non-alcoholic liquid in it freezes

why would you freeze alcohol?

i have had this before, not with alchohol, and nothing to do with the freezer... but yes i know what you mean...

over 15% and there is no change....

low alch content, and high water content it will start to freeze and the A and the H20 separate... thats whats happening...

but dont worry, thick is good...

Because of the the non- alcohol content.

It′s not vodka

Alcohol won't freeze as easily as other liquids (such as kool-aid and powerade). Instead, if you leave it in the freezer long enough, it will attempt to freeze; the ethanol fights the freezing and you wind up with a slushee.

Just don't drink it like a slushee!

lol
