Although bananas are actually from a herbacious plant and DO NOT grow on WOODY trees, so are actually classed as a HERB, i still think we should count them as a fruit.
Beats chewing dried herbs!!!

On a serious note, I think you have a point. Bananas can encourage other fruit to go off more quickly than it would do otherwise if they are in close contact. An old chef of mine taught me that one.

Apart from the fact that you obviously need help, this 'could' happen because all bananas are from the same family. One virus could cause devastation and believe me.....bananas would go...forever;

You shouldn't put bananas in the fruit bowl if you have oranges in it, they turn the bananas ripe really quick, leave them out of the fruit bowl.
