Why do some folks blame Rap Music for some of the world's problems?!

Question: Hear me out--I do like some rap, not all. I'm more old school when it comes to rap music. And I know that the rap music videos today do not portray women in a conservative fashion (to say the least). But look at some of the heavy metal bands--a good majority of them (past and present) are admitted coke heads, alcoholics and woman beaters.
So why does Rap get the brunt of the blame?

The music loved by the younger generation of any time is often anti-establishment, sexy and at times violent. Those are the feelings raging in young people so it is only natural music reflects those feelings. Elvis was condemned, so was Hendricks, so was Aerosmith, Guns and Roses etc. Whatever is anti-establishment gets a negative reaction from the establishment.

Drugs and sex is okay.. just not violence

Heavy metal offers an answer, whereas rap suggests violence as the solution. Don't get me wrong, I listen to old rap. I must admit bluegrass and heavy metal is where it's at.

well because of the bad rylics i think

The reason anyone blames music for the "Worlds Problems"-(and I'm scratching my head just writing that) is because they have a Dick (as in a real life Penis!)...for a head.
Rap, Heavy Metal, Power Pop (whatever that is) is cool. If you want to knock rap, rock, whatever...get a big one up ya!

To my recollection Metal bands generally don't advocate the beating and subjugation of women, "busting caps" (shooting people), or lawlessness as do some gangsta rap groups. There's a direct corelation in my view between gun toting wild west mentality thugs currently terrorizing inner city communities and extreme rap music.

let's straighten out 1 thing first - rap is NOT music, it's noise.
Really bad noise, with really bad lyrics. It's destructive. It has no positive meaning.

I actuaal can't understand most rap. By that I mean my ears can't distingush words, I have same problem with songs where they sing slow.
Can't name any right now but theres been lots styles of music that was deragatory to women in the past. Even to men, These boots are made for walking is a example.
