Work calls and says not to come in?!

Question: what would you think if your work calls you and tells you not to come in?

Answers: what would you think if your work calls you and tells you not to come in?

Depends, do you feel this is from personal job performance or is the company losing business and layoffs across the board are imminent? Either way, look for a new job but don't make it known just in case.

Turn off the alarm clock and sleep in

Nice now i can go back to bed lol

I would think that I was no longer needed.

I'd think great. Stuff the money, a day at home would be just wonderful

that I don't have to come in.

I go back to sleep- i work nights

feel relieved i am canned, .......

Over-employed today.

No worries. Rest easy.

<:-D

I'd be worried and turn up anyway, just to check!

That I lost 8 hours on my paycheck and I have bills to pay!

I would be worried about my job and job security and start looking for new jobs.

seems like you got fired!
i dont have that problem unless i call myself and tell myself not to come in.... hmmmm maybe i will!

CELEBRATION TIME

that would be awesome.
dumb question though.

That they finally fired me. It took them long enough! Shiesh! I don't even show up half the time, and when I do I'm usually late. It is not REALLY on purpose, but I guess I use any reason I can to miss or be late cuz I HATE THAT PLACE.

they are probably having a problem with the building like no power or something

Either business is slow and they are cutting hours or they don't like your job performance!

Decide yourself whether to do or not

eep, your either fired or it's so slow they don't have any work and you'll be laid off soon.

That today is my day!

I'd think cool I didn't want to go to work anyway

WHOOOOOO!!!! FREE DAY!

Actually I am a boss..It usually means they are thinking about cutting you loose. Why they are desciding..no point in paying you until they are sure.

well, when i was in retail or restaurant business, i would think they don't need me today, business is slow.

Now that I'm a teacher, I'd be pretty freaked out! I'd probably be thinking I'm getting investigated for something I didn't do. I would definitely ask why!

Depends on the job. In my case the person I work directly with was not available and we made arrangements to work at another time. If it is a regular client without a good excuse and at the last minute, I send them a reasonable bill for lost time. I'm thinking I'm p*ssed.

Its just a matter of figuring out if you did something wrong or not, you would know best. If you didn't, then it could just be a slow day.
I'm a manager and i don't have anyone come in on Mondays, since its our slowest day. Just a matter of what your line of work is too.

Ohhhhhhh -- ask your boss how things are going the next time he or she has a spare moment to give you a serious anser in private. Ask if there's any improvements your boss would like to see in you. Be very open and respectful to the answer.

It could be maybe its just a slow time of year at your job and management is cutting here and there. I wouldnlt worry, we do the same thing at my job. Whenver there is a convention in town, my job is slow so we either call people and tell them to stay home or send them home early

I'm retired.

We used to have budget problems (U.S.Government) and they would call nonessential personnel and tell them to stay home. Some how I was always essential but my boss wasn't. Used to really make me angry because, once funds were available, the nonessentials got paid for the days they didn't work anyhow.

{**** i hope they aren't gonna fire me}

I would ask them why unless you already know why.
