I love them both...they both have phenomenal (spelling) voices in my book and I love all of their work.

Well, I think John Mellencamp is a MUCH better singer for whatever that's worth.

Mellencamp's music is way better, but I strongly disagree with his political stance. He's a wacky liberal anymore.

I like John "Cougar" Mellencamp better. I'm not really sure who "represents the 'common man'" better, though. I'd have to sit and think on that (and listen to all their songs again).
Bruce Springsteen has been the the working class hero for many decades. He is one of my all time favorites and in my opinion is one of the most thoughtful and articulate artists in rock and roll.
All his performances and recordings testified to Springsteen’s faith in the redemptive power of both rock & roll and the human community.
Both are great artists,and really stand behind their beliefs.
But I have always been a bigger fan of
Bruce Springsteen.
