Does the camera really add 10 lbs?!

Question: I am gonna buy a video camera, and my brother keeps telling me that i'll look fat because it adds 10 pounds.
Is that true?
If not, where'd it come from?

Don't worry. It won't make much of a difference. A camera won't reflect exactly what you look like and I don't get why people would obsess over that. I'm pretty sure it does in some cases, make you look a little wider but it's nothing to worry about. I'm not even sure if it's true but it doesn't make much of a difference at all with my camera.. lol.

It's all about the camera angle. It can both add or subtract weight.

No,eating does that.

wear mostly black, it will trim you..and yes I believe it adds 10-20 pounds at times.

yes

Yes it does, and depends on what you are wearing.

i have no clue where it came from. dont listen to your brother, if your the worried, wear black. it makes you look ten pounds lighter. =]

Ugh noo... thats just people's excuse cuz they don't want to admit they look fat..

some people think the camera adds 10 pounds cuz when it gets developped or shown on the TV, it stretches the picture, making you look wider.

yes, so make sure only one person at a time takes your picture...............hehe ;)

no

Only ten pounds!?

It's true... It also proves that nicole richie is computer animated

it just looks like ur fat ur not actually any fatttr

no, it just makes you look fat

It's true, some of those things weigh a ton! LOL, Just Kidding. It does for some, the lenses used make your body look wider or heavier depending angles and such. Try shooting from a lower angle, looking up, which elongates your body and makes you appear taller and thinner. Shooting from a higher angle (such as above your head) makes you shorter and plumper.

When you are being filmed and it gets played back, you do indeed look heavier as a general rule.

It has to do with distortion...it's subtle, but it does make a difference.

That's why you see fashion models being shot from faaaaaar away....it minimizes the distortion.

I think in my case it adds about 100 lbs. And the mirror does too.

ppl who dont have full length mirrors r the ppl who think the camera adds weight. it doesnt. ur just unrealistic and r seeing ur self from another persons point of view unlike ur own

I must have been photgraphed by twenty cameras, lol.

The camera does adds 10 pounds to a person.

Do you think other things look distorted in videos? When you see a tree, does it look bigger in videos? If not, then why would people be the only things that, for some unknown reason, look bigger in video? I think it's just a myth spread by people who don't realize they are as fat as they are until they see a video.

No, it just makes celebrities take nude pictures of themselves so they can somehow wind up on the internet all by themselves.

Yes, bad lighting mostly. Dimension.
