I gave my niece a compliment on her helping her Mother cook the majority of the food for thanksgiving, and she baked a cake that was very good mind you, she is only 14. She appreciated my giving her the compliment. Whenever I give a compliment to anyone it's always sincere. When Im given a compliment I take it to heart.
I told my mom I liked her haircut. She thanked me. A compliment is an expression of praise, admiration, or congratulation. I was sincere with the compliment. I say thank you whenever someone compliments me. It depends who is complimenting me, but I usually take it seriously.
last night i was talking to a friend on im and we were using doodle and she drew a crazy picture and i said that looks good and she said thanks
I do know what a compliment is. I told my kittens they were beautiful. I was very sincere. They did not respond. When I am complimented, I smile and thank the person. No, sometimes I tell them they are crazy or something like that.
I told this guy: ' I love your tight trousers and the way they emphasize your best asset'
i told shiela i like her haircut
I told my daughter that she was pretty and would break many hearts. She (a teen) just looked at me and said, 'Oookay'. It was a sincere compliment. She is very attractive. But she thinks I'm doing the 'mom thing': I have to say nice things because I love her.
Yes, I know what a compliment is. ( I have also encountered insincere flattery.)
I am probably the world's worst compliment recipient. I get embarrassed easily, and say dumb stuff. Someone complimented my outfit, and I was like, "Oh, this? I've had it for years, and..."
I go on and on, until I have embarrassed myself because i wouldn't just say thank you and shut up. I do take compliments from guys well, though. I don't know why.
And while my thank you comes more readily, I am more likely to wonder if the compliment was sincere, if the compliment-giver is male. (Not little boys and teens, but adult males.)
So, I guess I accept female compliments as being more sincere, but do so badly. I take male compliments graciously but with a grain of salt.
God bless you.
I give many compliments, as I see them appropriate.
I believe the last one was to a friends' cooking/baking.
