Aarons Loan Sharks?!

Question: Alright, I've been going through Aaron's Sales and Lease for about 6 months now for my laptop. It costs me $191 a month
and so far, I've paid $1146, with the same to go.

I looked up the laptop I'm getting through them and it only retails for $796.00 new.

Approximately a week ago, my dog chewed through my power cord. I can no longer afford the outrageous payments, and I'm sick of being ripped off.

So what is the worst thing Aaron's could possibly do to me if I return the laptop to them with no power cord?

Yes, you are correct. It's legal ONLY because it is rented.
One should consider one's budget before entering into an agreement like that. If one cannot wait to they can buy such outright, then it's time to consider that it MAY be a luxury.
If you can return it it may be a wiser move to have the repair done elsewhere before returning it, assuming your lease allows it.
I'm being polite, for I feel you have learned a hard lesson here, one that will benefit you in the future.

thx, Myco. last thing i would do is beat ya up over it. i reckon you've probably done that enough to yourself.

  • Call them and find out. And read the fine print the next time you sign a contract.

Are they charging you more than they said they would in your agreement?

They would charge your for a new power cord. Don't be surprised if they charge you more than you could buy it yourself.

BTW, ALL rent to own companies charge much, much more than just purchasing yourself.

Aarons unfortunately is not a loan shark type company. You pay an outrageous amount of interest, BUT if you have good credit you could go through DELL or someplace like that.

I would keep on making the payments, or find out if you can give it back without a penalty. In the end, your credit is all you have.

Then I would shoot the dog, or better yet, give it to Michael Vick!!!!

    =)
