Because Muslims hate Teddy Bears...see in the Quran it warns of Teddy Bears coming to rise up against mankind and that that it will start Armageddon.

There's a rule about naming animals after the prophet, apparently it isn't allowed. Which is fair enough - how many animals do you know named Jesus Christ? Not many, right?
Also, Islam doesn't allow iconoclasm, which is the representation of the prophet. It's only recently that they have adopted the practice of figurative representation in art, and even then it's very stylised. Most of what they did was stylised patterns of flowers and that.
The poor woman made a mistake out of sheer ignorance - by this I mean a lack of knowledge, not wilful disregard for the faith of millions. I'm kind of surprised that she didn't first check out the appropriacy of naming a teddy bear Mohammed in a Muslim country .... I would have thought that a teacher of her age and experience would have done a little more research into the culture in which she would be living and working. We expect them to adapt to our way of life when they move to the West, it's only normal that we would have to adapt to theirs if moving to their country.
That said, I hope that some of those who are baying for the poor woman's blood realise that this was just an honest mistake made from pure lack of knowledge and never maliciously intended.
Because when they name ugly boy Muhammad they love an ugly boy because they loved him and want to show their respect toward Muhammad.
