It all depends on what you are asking really. Would you rather live without love rather than long to be loved? Would you rather live without a car than long to own one? Two different responses will come out of these two different questions...

If you are asking about something involving people (ie. love, a father-figure, a girlfriend or boyfriend, etc), the answer is what you want will come, you just can't focus on it. People who are focusing on things involving emotion can often run the fine line of coming off to other people as desperate to have those things. Other people are often disapproving of desperation and remove themselves from those kinds of people exhibiting those feelings. Which in turn, isolates you even further. However, if you do things to keep your mind occupied away from that what you want, and you find a way to be comfortable where you are, the thing you want will often come to you sooner than you think.

If you are asking about things in general (ie. cars, a home, etc.) then your answer is that you don't have to live without them. You just need to set realistic goals and reach them.

I am only grateful for what I have...not sad for what I want or don't have.

Without.

Yes.!!!

I would rather long for it because reaching my goal is all that matters to me.

Isnt that the same? Even if you havent had it, you can still long for it, want it, crave it....

hmmmmmmmm

sometimes all we have is hope, even if its false hope

its better than nothing

i try to achieve what i need so i do not long for anything

and as for not missing what you've never had .. try living without love and see what happens to you

I agree with you on one point - if you've never had it, you'll never miss it. However, if you've had something and lost it, it might motivate you to find it again, and that journey can be a great one.

I agree with you 1000%.

yes

I agree what you've never had you'll never miss.

Tough question. Very thought proboking. I would have to say I'd rather live without it, but if it's something like love then I would probably want to have had it before and long for it again. Good question mate!

It depends on what that something is. If it's right to have it and there's a good chance I can have it, then I will not only long for it, but do everything in my power to obtain it.

Who's to say if you long for it that you won't get it eventually? I'm NOT the kind of girl to get EVERYTHING that I want, but things that I long for for long enough I usually get in the end just because of the hope and courage to stick it out for the thing I want the most.

Supposed if it was worth longing for it would be worth getting out there to find it.

If you are meaning something like, it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, then I say the loved and lost is better. Whatever you had but lost, at least it was in your life, at least you got to experience it. I'm sure you would not be longing for it if it did not bring you some joy. Just enjoy the happy memories and move on. You can miss something you never had, in fact I believe the longing can be worse then. Hope that helps.

depends on what it is
if it is something i know i would never have then why waste time longing for it

I belive in the age old adege "Ignorance is Bliss". So for me if I've never had it, never known it then I dont know what I'm missing. Longing for something (and sometimes somone) can snowball into a whole mental complicated mess. If can bring pain, worry, drama, and stress. Thus sometimes I would rather live in ignorance LOL

I guess generically, of course it would be nice to not live coveting and longing. As a child I never realized I was growing up poor, so not having material things I didn't know about wasn't really a problem. Unfortunately as you get older, and even more and more in the age of TV and ads blasting you constantly, even children are being bombarded with things they "need." It's natural to want to better your life, and frankly also natural to want what you don't or CAN'T have. This is all of course if I'm taking this on a pretty materialistic basis. Now as my stream of consciousness rambling continues I find myself pondering the idea of larger concepts. For example, if a person living in the third world has never been exposed to any other type of lifestyle, one could say they can live a life without having any concept of what another type of life could be like. Then I suppose, the idea could apply. But then I think, even people who haven't experienced something are capable of realizing there has GOT to be a better way of living. I think of Saudi women who are raped and can't step forward because they lack that required four male witnesses to speak on their behalf. Despite never knowing any other life, there has to be an innate knowledge that that isn't right. Well that's enough for now. Have fun with your answers.

thank you God for what you have given me, for what you havent given me and for what you have taken away from me!

thats my answer
Rose xxx

depends what it is you never had
if a woman cant get pregnant she never had the baby she still longs for it

yes

No, I wouldn't

I think it is better to have it once, than to never have it!.....I lost my husband, and I will never get him back...but I wouldn't want to never have had him as my husband, its better to love, even if you have to lose that love, at least you have your memories of that love....if I never met him, I wouldn't know what it means to really love a man....
