there are some sections in yahoo that are still clean predominantly the homework help, math, science.......you get the idea. these re the places when you do need help.

this place is for opinions and fun. and there are a lot of people that get very useful information and advise from other people. if you don't like the lewdness then make sure you stay on the information portion of the site. nobody is gonna say something dirty in the cooking or business section!

Agreed. I have a daughter and I won't let her on here, esp. at night. Lots of loons w/o respect for kids.
Swearing gets filtered out on here and anything lewd is most often said in double entendre language that young kids won't understand. I would be more concerned at kids coming into contact with porn images.

You are right - most of what is on here could be found out on a search engine. This site is mostly useful for hearing peoples opinions on topics and making yours known.
Y!A or google? Either way, they're gonna get information that you might not want them to have... and they're gonna see things you'd rather they don't. Heck... even without ya and google, e-mail's loaded with junk, and internet aside, other kids show/say/do things that are just as bad, if not worse. I think it's all up to a parent to try and anticipate the bad things they will encounter and let the child know the proper way to act if those things come up, regardless of when or where they come up.
What the heck do you mean by watershed ? I thought is was an area of land that fed a particular river. You do realize the world is round and everyone isnt on east coast US time. Alot of kids do ask really stupid ignorant questions about sex and pregnacy and veneral disease. So obviously there parents arnt talking to them. I think it is good kids can ask embarrassing questions here and maybe just maybe it will prevent greater hardship. Let me ask you have you told your kids how they can get or get someone pregnant ? Or how they can get aids ? or herpes? or get hooked on cigerretts or worse drugs ?
But there are people on here that pretend to be someone else. As yet, I have not seen anything lewd.
