Get the Police

Go to the authorities and let them sort it out. If it was someone else using their computer (like you were), then the police will decide that.
Telling them in advance, they may reformat their hard drive and erase the evidence.
If one child is harmed because a knowing person did not do something, then that person has to take part of that responsibility. People who collect child pornography ARE dangerous to children.

Actually, I found child porn on a coworkers computer and I reported him to the supervisor AND HR. I dcumented the web sites in case a case was brought against him.
I would let the police know straight away and wouldnt want to know them anymore. It doesnt just get there by accident.

It's a person's life we're talking about, don't rush! What would I be getting through somebody's private files first of all? If it's a share file or something, or a file with an easy acces I'd ask myself it it was there by mistake, sent by somebody else as a prank, who knows...Second: If I am discovering all that I'd have a talk with him first and foremost, and try to get an explanation, then, if the person really seems to pose a threat to somebody's security I would call the police, but IN THAT CASE ONLY!
Note: No, I do not agree with child pornography and I don't like to hear about people who enjoy it, but I wouldn't go making accusations without knowing more about the person who had that file.
I feel Police could be the ultimate remedy,as every body is suggesting.I suggest go to the root cause of why the child pron has been in somebodies computer.
