It is probably a moronic coincidence.
When you play the song backwards, on a DJ turntable that goes backwards, for example, the verse about a "tree by the brook" says "here's to my sweet Satan."
I played it backwards once and heard it. It sounds very coincidental....

A Satanic massage would involve having a member of the Church of Satan, who is licensed as a massage therapist, apply pressure to your muscles in such a way as to relieve stress and soreness.
As you mentioned, the members of Led Zeppelin were not Satanic. Nor were they licensed massage therapists. If they touched you in any way, it was technically just a backrub, not a 'satanic massage'.

No way. Not ever.

only if you play it backwards.

Wow, that's nutty! 666

no i dont think its a satanic message.

Not satanic!

No, I don't at all. That is one of my all time favorite songs.

NO

To get the message people claim is there you have to play it backwards, and vary the speed of each section.

You can do that with ANY spoken word/song and make it sound like whatever you want

I think that if Satan wrote Stairway to Heaven then he should write more SONGS!!! I LOVE that song!!!

i dont know.

I just think Satanic massage is funny.

DRAGON 2008
"I BELIEVE IN U.S."

Huh???

nope.

It's not Satanic. Playing backwards was just coincidental.

No, I think it is a beautiful song. Has deep personal meanings for me.

No, I do not think that the song has a Satanic message.

I think it's an amazing story of holding onto hope no matter how hard it gets. I love that song and have a very special connection to it in my life where I finally realized what it was really about.

you're wrong on both counts.

it's not a satanic message and they're not "pure Christian"

I find the answer from "Digital Age" a bit ironic. He refers to an analog method of playing songs backwards. It's very easy to play songs backwards using digital technology as well.

the whole backwards masking is a waste of anyone's curiosity. true, some artists have deliberately put backwards stuff into their songs, but your brain can't assimilate such messages. on the other hand there are many alleged backwards messages which are nothing of the sort. somebody got bored and started listening to records backwards and thought they heard such and such a line. they spread it around and then when you know what you're "supposed" to be hearing, you make yourself hear that. but it ain't really there. due to the nature of sound, something backwards would be obvious and so you'd know what portion to listen to (e.g. at the end of "Rain" by the Beatles). but such examples as "tree by the brook" in "stairway" aren't like this.

I think this is a dumb question, don't get me wrong, I like Led Zep, but you asked me what I think and I gave you an answer.

No, my bro in law played the record backwards a trillon times and didn't hear anything.

I dont know. Did THEY write the song? If they didnt it might and they dont know about it...

I once heard with the song, if you hadn't seen the message you wouldn't hear the satanic message.

I think its just a song!

Did you know that there was a myth that Led Zeppelin formed a contract with the devil in order to achieve their fame. Name the four members of Led Zeppelin... Most people can name three not four. Plant, Page, and Bonzo. Hardly anyone remembers Jones. And John Paul was the only member who didn't do it. That's why nobody can remember his name or his face. So if you ask me if Stairway is Satanic... Anything is possible with that band.

Keep in mind that Jimmy has bought pretty much everything that once belonged to Aleister Crowley. He even lives in the Wickedest Man In the World's castle.

Something was definitely up with that band... For Sure!

"Oh, here's to my sweet Satan...
the one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan.
He'll give you 666...
there was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan." - the backwards lyrics

Plant was actually possessed, it's believed, as he wrote the lyrics. Page was with him as it happened; they sat by the fire and composed the entire song in one sitting. Coincidence? Never. Intentional? Not by earthly forces, anyhow...

It is not satanic at all!

Mmmm, Satanic massages. Otherwise known as what goes on in my basement every Friday night.

I'm just here for the awesome misspellings.

It was a poke at the religious authority. They were being bad boys. The church didn't seem to dig the hippies too much if I remember correctly lol. They may be into magic, but I doubt they are true satanists.

me too.
