Why does every customer help line deem it necessary to make you sit there for 30!

They do this in hopes that you will hang up and they don't have to talk to you :P

Call centers are always understaffed. It is a very highly stressful job, with very little reward. I used to be a manager at a call center, and I would make customers who wanted to speak with a manager wait to see how bad they "wanted it". Sometimes I'd make them wait over 30 minutes, and then hang up on them.

Well the reason that you are probably sitting on hold for that long is because of lack of available customer service reps and the reason that the are probably copping a " 'tude" with you is because they just got done listening to some other idiot b**** about something that that rep can do nothing about because the company that they work for doesn't let them. Maybe if you had a better attitude when they came on the line they would too. Those people take call after call all day long and while I personally think that they should also be able to maintain a certain level of professionalism, I am willing to give them a break because they don't get paid enough to sit there and have to deal with my bad mood. You should just be happy if you don't reach someone from overseas.

I am on hold this very second with Verizon. This is my third call to them today because I am having trouble with my FIOS service and I have been on hold for 23 minutes and 57 seconds, so far this time.

They told me I am at the front of the line because this is my third call today..... I really feel sorry who are calling for the first time and are on hold behind me...........

And I have been on a loop pf the same song endlessly for the entire time..............

I am about to scream but this whole thing is voice activated and that just may send me back to the beginning....

UPDATE::::: it has now been 50 minutes and 17 seconds
