It's "Deep Pocket" lawsuit in action...
Step 1: Dennis Quaid's lawyer smells money...he convinces Dennis Quaid to fork out some personal dough to him right away for the future promise of a large "out of court" settlement that the company will be forced to do (their fault or not) because it would cost the company more in legal fees to fight the case and win...(possibly even a "personal injury" case lawyer who won't charge a legal fee until settlement, in which case Dennis Quaid doesn't even have to fork over anything more than paperwork fees...)
Step 2. The company weighs in the negative publicity potential losses, and the legal costs, but also takes into consideration that they don't want to set a "precedent" for themselves being sued all the time...and then they decide to either fight to win...or agree to pay the out of court settlement and move on to next year's stock report...
Step 3. American citizens everywhere are hurt by this display of individual greed disguised by the plaintiff lawyers as "justice," because it feeds the ongoing abuse of "loophole lawyerism," and takes even more personal responsibility away from individuals in general, and adds to the overall "dumbing down of America..."
I rest my case...(gavel strike the pad...this court is adjourned....)
