im 21 now and i've played violin since i was 3..... when i started i had to go to one of the asian schools because there were no private teachers that would take on someone so young. because of the language gap, i learnt the majority of the stuff by ear. its the one thing im proud of, that i've managed to maintain something for this long, and stay focussed on it. but i also sing, play the oboe, percussion, flute, clarinet, viola, bass and guitar.
and i also bought myself an electric violin and amp to spice things up a bit. its awesome.
ooh to answer the last bit of your question, i had lessons for violin, viola and voice, and self taught myself the rest
