Adkins Diet?!

Question: Hey everyone! I have done the adkins diet before, and it worked well, I lost 50 pounds. I went off the diet for a couple of years and when I started it again earlier this year, it stopped up my bowels very badly. I want to get back on adkins, please no speeches about what a bad diet it is, I just want to know if anyone else was in my position with their bowels, and what they did about it. also how to stay on it hard core, instead of getting tired of it and stopping the diet. i have the adkins cook book by dr adkins wife, but there is so much food in there i do not like at all. help!!!!

also if you have nothing nice to say then please leave my question alone, otherwise i'll be happy to report you.

thanks to all adkins workers ahead of time.

try incorporating more fiber into your diet or take stool softeners (not laxatives)

it's actually called "atkin's diet" and congrats

I been on soooo many diets throughout my whole life and usually if I started eating normal again I would gain a few pounds.. All together I lost 75 pounds.. I think you should switch your diet.. like I said I was on many diets before.. when u switch to something different the food might be better because I know that if I was on one diet for too long I was very tired of the food.. Go on South Beach now.. Its a great diet and there are many websites that can help you.. Also a diet journal may get u motivated

Great diet!! More protein. Your problem needs senna vegetable lax (generic too) and mineral oil. That helps most people. Don't worry about that impossible cookbook, just stay with protein. I saw a girl that ate nothing but tuna fish every day (and I believed her) for an insurmountable length of time and she lost almost 100 lbs. I think it was almost 8 or 9 months? (You have a right to choose your own best diet)

I've actually had the reverse of your problem, but I don't view it as a problem... When you follow the plan, your body is using up most everything you eat, so there's not much left to get rid of... If you are in pain, though, I would add a few more carbs, like a cup of lettuce, or a slice of bread with peanut butter. That may help you go.

I think the South Beach Diet would have the same results but would incorporate more foods so that you didn't get constipated. Try Mucinex or just take Metemucil or something if you are stuck on Atkins.

An obvious answer would be laxatives, but that is only a temporary solution. I was very successful on Weight Watchers and alot of women would incorporate the Atkin's core rule of no/low carbs. I would suggest as much fiber in your diet as possible. LOTS of lettuce and other leafy greans. Snack on raw veggies or dill pickles. Just keep the vegetable intake as high as you can and remember WATER WATER WATER!!! Those eight recommended glasses of water a day are ESSENTIAL to good weight loss. I bet it helps the bowels, too! BEST WISHES!!
