Any tips for getting through a staff meeting?!
Question: I've got one in about half hour and I find them so draining and mostly pointless.

I once walked in at the beginning ,placed a tape recorder on the table in the spot in front of my chair and when it started I pressed record and walked out :)).
Listen for possible Q's that you could ask on here later.
eat lots of beans & fart frequently!
take a pen and paper and draw funny things..this should keep you amused and look like you are concentrating..............good luck..........i hate em too...........
make it look like you are taking notes when you are really drawing silly pictures
go in and think to your self I will really enjoy this ask lots of questions, they will wind it up early as you are getting on everyones nerves.
Among my friends we chose a "buzz word" and each guess how many times the boss will use it during the meeting the winner gets a prize!
Try to look interested without making too much eye contact. That way you can kind of smile and nod while you're planning your shopping list in your mind. Take a notebook like you're taking notes - that way you can doodle or make your grocery list. Take a bottle of water to sip on - that will help you when you start to doze off. Good luck. ?

sleep through the whole thing, or day dream about what your going to do this weekend. thats what i usually do anyway.

Try telling yourself that there is a point, look for the positive that you can get from it. If it's boring, then offer to present on something that interests you.
And have a little compassion for the poor saps who have to lead and present these meetings. They probably don't enjoy them anymore than you do, especially if that's the kind of audience they are getting. Would you prefer it if they stopped telling you things?

Sing your favourite song in your head, or think up scenarios or plans on what you're going to do on the weekend, or bring a notepad in (pretending to take notes) and just doodle.
We even made up a buzz word bingo, a randomly generated bingo sheet of buzzwords. If you get a full house you have to slam your book shut or do some other coded action to announce your success!
I have to go to a LOT of pointless meetings here...
