Why do we call it "A piece of toast"?!

Question: what if I actually want the whole toast?

Answers: what if I actually want the whole toast?

When I was a kid, at dinner, my Grandfather used to ask if anyone wanted a piece of bread. When someone said "yes", he would then ask if they wanted the whole piece. Of course, they said yes. He would then rip the center out of the piece of bread and give them the "hole" piece!!! I miss those days!!!

hahahhaah
thank you...
you put a smile on my face.

hmmm . . .good question. I don't know.

I guess because you use a piece or bread to make it. Unless you use the whole loaf...

You need a toaster large enough to accommodate a whole loaf of bread.

Better than calling it a toasted piece! That would be something else entirely!

That's funny!!

Then you'd have to toast the whole loaf of bread.

isn't it supposed to be called a "slice of toast?"

funny.
it's like 'a pair of pants'
i'm only wearing 1.............hehe ;)

Hahaha
Actually, I have no clue!!
I wonder..

-Hannah?

i dunno
its like the sayin
as easy as taking candy from a baby
thats a stupid sayin
taking candy from a baby isnt easy theyll sit there and cry for hours until they get it back

because we say piece of bread. It's not the whole loaf, just a piece of it. Now it's toasted so...

the bread was a piece of a loaf

then you say the whole toast
